During one of those slow, observant days at the tattoo studio, surrounded by vibrant, maximalist decor and artwork of all kinds, I felt a spark to paint- a feeling that I had not felt in a long time. A sudden nostalgic excitement to play with paint and brush- to create with the same vigor and hopefulness that I did during my earlier teenage years. I was seeking to add something to the studio walls that told a story about who I am. I pondered and landed on a concept that would demand attention amongst its many wall-mates, yet was simplistic and soft. This piece was created for my inner child, and has become a gateway to a new painting style emerging from me- whimsical subjects matters with bright backgrounds, pops of neon, or an unexpected twist.
